Weekly Round-Up

Hello again, this week has been a bit more eventful, what with the boyf coming up from Essex to visit me. We met at university, but now we’ve graduated it’s more difficult to see each other as I’ve moved back home. Still, we make it work!

Without further ado, here’s what I’ve been loving this week…

Blog

Thank you to Evie, who commented on last week’s post. I just love her blog, which you can find here. She posts about lifestyle, fitness, books and languages; she studies Spanish and French at uni! Pretty impressive, if you ask me. Personally, I really enjoy writing and reading about university life (just can’t let go, can I?), so her posts about student housing and what she wished she knew about uni are a great read for any upcoming student.

I was also inspired by Evie to sign up to Goodreads, but more on that in a min…

If you’re a ‘small’ blogger like me, comment below to be featured in my weekly round-ups! I’m always looking to grow my lil blogger community. Let’s be friends.

Book

I picked up The Dead Ex by Jane Corry this week. Sounds cheery, doesn’t it? I’m a lover of thriller books, so I’m hoping this will live up to my expectations. I’ve only just started, mind, so I’m not ready to give a full review. I’ve now signed up to Goodreads to keep track of what books I’m reading and to get recommendations. I want to read more, so I hope this will help. Have you read this book? What did you think? (No spoilers, please!)

Music

Can I just take a moment to talk about Florence and the Machine’s new album High as Hope? I’m loving how stripped back it is, how intimate. ‘June’, ‘Hunger’ and ‘Sky Full of Song’ are my favourite tunes from this album; they all compliment each other yet are so unique. I saw Florence live once, a while back now, and I can honestly say it was one of the best concerts I’ve been to. Listen to High as Hope here.

A Day Out

As I’ve mentioned, Dom came to visit me this week. It was lovely, as it always is. This time, we decided to visit The Monkey Forest in Trentham. The Monkey Forest is what it says on the tin – a forest, home to a load of monkeys. You can literally walk within the enclosure, monkeys crossing the path in front of you. It’s really cute. I’ve visited a few times before (mostly when I was a child), but I’d never taken Dom. We spent just over an hour there, as it’s not massive, hanging out with some Macaques.

All in all, I’ve had a good week. What have you been up to? Have you got any recommendations?

Don’t forget to comment below if you’d like to be blogger friends, and be featured on next week’s round-up! 🙂

Have you read why being calm is okay?

  1. For whatever reason, this post was recommended in my reader, and it was quite lovely, and after reading through some of your recent posts, I have to say your blog is refreshing in its brisk, good-natured attitude. Keep it up, Amy!
