Advice for Graduates

Help for Graduates Looking for Work

When I graduated from university in May 2018, I wasn’t sure what to expect next. Every part of my life, I came to realise, had already been laid out for me; from primary school to high school, GCSEs to A-levels, there was always a ‘next step’. But once you come out of uni, that is where people stop telling you what to do. Consequently, I don’t think I was very well prepared for the months of job-seeking, CV-rewriting, and application-filling. Now, though, almost a year later, I feel like I can offer some advice and help for graduates looking for work in the upcoming months.

So, watch out for some blog posts about post-university life, the feeling of being in ‘limbo’ and dealing with graduate depression. This is a space for current university students, graduates, and even for those who are thinking about taking a degree.

I loved going to uni – it was absolutely one of the best experiences of my life so far. I in no way want to deter people from taking up the opportunity, should it arise. I also realise that not everyone will go through the same experience. Some people will graduate and walk straight into a brilliant job, others might move back home to their parents, and some may go elsewhere.

All I can advise on is what I have personally experienced, but I hope that I can offer help for graduates looking for work, whatever their situation.
