It’s 10:30pm and I’m writing this from the comfort of my bed. I just drank a cup of coffee (decaff, of course, I’m not a maniac), got into my cosies and I thought, today, I feel calm. I’m not stressing about not filling my time with something productive, or worrying about that interview I have, or constantly wondering what I’m going to be doing with my life.
Today, I’m calm.
Most days, I wake up and think, what shall I do today? How can I improve myself? What am I going to do to make this day worthwhile? And, while these thoughts are my motivations, they can also be pretty draining. So, this morning I cleaned my room (listening to the Mamma Mia soundtrack, because who doesn’t love a bit of Super Trouper?), watched To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before on Netflix (great film btw) and went for a walk with my dad and the dog.
You’ll be thrilled to know that, with a slight chill in the air, it felt really quite autumnal, so I decided to dress like a pumpkin, which is a great day for everyone. I even matched the fields. It’s the small things.
It’s been a quiet day, but it always is a quiet day in the Wright household. Perhaps it’s more accurate to say that today has been a ‘quiet minded’ day. I think it has a lot to do with the fact that I have a distraction; my boyfriend, Dom, is coming up from Essex to visit me and, although we no longer see a lot of each other, I just adore his company when we are together.
Sometimes, it’s okay to be calm. It’s okay to give your mind permission to stop banging on about being productive or making sure the day doesn’t go to waste. It’s okay to feel okay.
Have you had a nosy at my creative writing?
Love this post! We all need to take a pause once in a while.

How nice. Glad you had a lovely “calm” day. It’s just the dog and me who had to put up with the vacuum cleaner going 😉 Tee hee. Dud X

This is a great post! Just what I needed to read on a Monday afternoon. I’m always asking myself what I can do to make sure I’ve had a productive day and making sure I haven’t wasted the day but sometimes I really need a day where I don’t try and cram something into every minute! So today I’m going to take it slow, tidy up the house, read some blog posts, watch some Netflix, maybe read and walk the dog ❤ thank you x
